President:  Kim Hill

Kim is an enthusiastic elementary education and music major in her third year at TCNJ, where she has studied voice with Brad Hougham and flute with David DiGiacobbe.  The love she has for children and education extends into her professional life; her teaching experiences include camp director and music teacher at the Stanton Learning Center, teacher for Kids’ Music Round, youth choir director at Stanton Reformed Church and private music instructor.  As a soloist, Kim has performed at Westminster Choir College, The Pavillions at Princeton, and is now on several recordings with the Edward James Ensemble.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Vice President:  Dave Adams

Dave is a sophomore music education major at TCNJ who currently studies saxophone with Professor Kathy Mitchell.  Dave attended Immaculata High School, where he was an active member of the Marching Band, Concert Band, Wind Ensemble, Folk Group, Jazz Band, Chorus, along with holding leadership positions in the National Honor Society, running an annual Coffeehouse fundraiser, and volunteering for numerous charitable events. Currently, Dave participates in the TCNJ Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, Saxophone Quartet, and Pep Band. He is also on the marching band staff at Immaculata High School, and gives private lessons to students in the surrounding area. Dave looks forward to going onto a graduate school program in Music Business.

 

 

 

Secretary:  Gregory Marsh

Greg is a Sophomore Music Education major, and is currently studying clarinet with Roger W. McKinney (B.M.E. Potsdam College, B.S., M.S. Juilliard School of Music).  Before coming to TCNJ, Greg studied clarinet with Lori Ludlum from 8th to 12th grade, and was selected by competitive audition to perform with several high school regional and all-state ensembles for clarinet and voice throughout New Jersey.  He was also a member of his high school’s Marching Band, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Select Choir, Chorus, Jazz Ensemble, and School Musical.  Since coming to TCNJ, he has become involved in the college’s Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Chorus, Clarinet Choir, Opera Theatre Pit Orchestra, Pep Band, and MENC.  He is also looking forward to adding the college’s Orchestra, Chorale, Woodwind Quintet, and Chamber Winds to his performing ensembles for the upcoming school year.

 

 

 

 

 

Treasurer:  Ciji Syvarth

Ciji is a Junior Music Education major and is studying clarinet under the direction of Professor Roger W. McKinney. Before coming to TCNJ, Ciji studied with Bill Garton and Barry Wilhjelm. During her middle and high school years, Ciji was chosen to perform with many competitive regional bands and orchestras. In August of 2001, she was chosen to perform and travel through various parts of Europe with the musical ensemble American Music Abroad. At TCNJ, Ciji has been involved with the college’s Wind Ensemble, Pit Orchestra, Clarinet Choir, MENC, Pep Band, College Orchestra, and small ensemble groups.

Freshman/Sophomore Representative:  Shannon O'Connor

Shannon is a sophomore Music Education major and is studying horn with Kathryn Mehrtens.  Shannon has always been very involved in music, and prior to beginning her career at TCNJ, she was  a member of The Greater Princeton Youth Orchestra, director of the St. Ann’s Children’s Handbell Choir, and was a section leader for three years in the Bridgewater-Raritan High School Marching Band, as well as participating in various pit orchestras.  Now, she occupies her time with the TCNJ Concert Band, Horn Ensemble, Brass Ensemble, Pep Band, MENC, and Concert Choir, as well as participating in every All College Theater production. In addition to music, Shannon’s other passion is teaching young children.  Throughout high school, she educated fourth graders about the dangers of substance abuse with the BRHS Prevention Using Student Help.  Shannon continues to take advantage of any opportunity she has to teach, and can’t wait to begin her career as an educator.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Webmaster:  Kyle Bennett

            Kyle is a Senior Music Education Major.  His primary instrument is Trombone and before coming to TCNJ, studied under Henry Heyzer.  For the past 4 years, he has studied with Donald Harwood of the New York Philharmonic.  He is apart of both the TCNJ MENC, and our collegiate chapter of American String Teachers Association (ASTA).  He has wanted to become a music teacher since the 8th grade.  At TCNJ, he has played with the Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Concert Choir, Orchestra, Pit Orchestra, Brass Ensemble, and the TCNJ Brass Quintet.  During the 2002 and 2003 summers, he toured the U.S. performing with the Crossmen Drum & Bugle Corps entertaining thousands of fans. 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Webmaster IT:  Amy Wilcox

Amy is a Sophomore Music Education major and is studying clarinet with Roger W. McKinney.  Before attending TCNJ, Amy studied with Peter DiCarlo, and was involved in her high school’s Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, Marching Band, and Pit Orchestra.  She also has been an active soloist at her church, Pluckemin Presbyterian, in Bedminster, New Jersey.  At TCNJ, Amy has performed with the college’s Wind Ensemble, Opera Theatre Pit Orchestra, and Clarinet Quartet.  Amy has been looking forward to becoming a teacher since she was very young, and she is very excited to be apart of MENC this year.
